What This Extension Does

WhatsApp Chat Export allows you to download and save your WhatsApp Web chat history as text, HTML, or CSV files. All processing happens locally in your browser.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data or chat content. Specifically:

• No chat messages, contacts, or media are sent to any external server
• No analytics, telemetry, or tracking of any kind
• No cookies or fingerprinting
• No user accounts are created or required

How Your Data Is Processed

When you export a chat, the extension reads message data directly from the WhatsApp Web page running in your browser tab. This data is processed entirely on your device and saved as a file to your local downloads folder. At no point does any chat data leave your browser.

Permissions Used

• storage — Saves your export preferences (format, date range, settings) locally in the browser. No data is synced externally.
• tabs — Identifies the active WhatsApp Web tab to send export commands to the content script.
• Host permission (web.whatsapp.com) — Required to inject the content script that reads chat data from the WhatsApp Web page for export.

License Validation

If you purchase a Pro license, your license key is validated against the Gumroad API to confirm the purchase. The only data sent is the license key itself. No chat data, personal information, or browsing activity is transmitted during this process.

Third-Party Services

The only external service contacted is Gumroad for optional license key validation. No other third-party services are used.

Data Retention

The extension stores only your export preferences and license key (if activated) in Chrome's local storage. This data stays on your device and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
